18 8103 L.C.W.W. HE 6299/1964

This loco was delivered in 1964 to the Liverpool Corporation Water Works (L.C.W.W.) at Rivington Reservoir, near Horwich, Lancashire. It may have also been used on a project to construct an aqueduct from Norton to Prescot, before moving to L.C.W.W.’s Llanforda Hall works, near Oswestry. This works was a filtration plant on the pipeline from Lake Vyrnwy (mid Wales) to Liverpool. The filter beds contained sand, and had to be cleared out periodically – this was done using locos and skip wagons to move the sand. The works later became part of the North West Water Authority. After the railway system at Llanforda Hall closed in 1986, the loco joined the MRT collection in November of that year.
