New to Severn Trent Water Authority Newstead Works, Trentham, Staffs. The loco then worked at Blythe Valley Works in 1980 and early 1981, returning to Newstead before moving to Tunstall works. Sold from S.T.W.A. Burslem workshops in early 1985, it went to Whittle Colliery (via a van hire business in Hinckley, Leicestershire). Initially preserved in Dorset, it moved to the Cadeby Light Railway on 2/8/1996, and to Apedale on 22/7/2006.

Built with a Kirloskar RA2 engine (of Indian origin), the loco arrived at Cadeby with a totally inadequate Lister ”D” diesel. The Kirloskar engines were closely related to the German Deutz engines, and a Deutz engine has been fitted to this loco. The new Deutz engine formerly drove the exhausters on one of the Ffestiniog Railways Funkey diesel locos which originated from South Africa.
